Some of you already know me, but to those that do not let me to introduce
myself…My name is Mariah and this will be my second blog. I’ve been wanting to
create a fashion blog for a while now and yesterday I just decided to do it. I
just wanted to tell you all a little about where my love of style and fashion
originated. When I was a little girl growing up, I used to love to draw
pictures of clothes and outfits. I don’t know when or why, but eventually I
stopped. That was first little spark of interest in clothes, style and fashion.
Then after my family moved back to the states (my dad was stationed in Japan
for 3 years), from my preteens to teenage years I started watching What Not To Wear, and that really
sparked my interest. I began to take what I learned from watching the show and
applying it when my mom would take my siblings and I out shopping. I remember
the first pair of dark wash jeans I picked out, tried on and my mom bought for
me. I was so excited because I had applied the advice of Stacy and Clinton regarding
jeans that make you look BOMB! And my first blazer, it was this burnt orange
color. I just knew I was cute!
However, I wouldn’t say that I came into my own style until after college, up until that point it was a steady build. You know how when you’re younger you wear what your parents pick out for you for the most part because they’re paying and in my case I also had a hard time for a while telling my mom if I didn’t like something. I have since been freed of that lol. Now, all the pieces in my closet I acquired myself for the most part. And I love and adore it all! I now know what I like and dislike. And have my own since of style that I feel epitomizes who I am and what I stand for. I would describe my sense of style as really feminine and classically chic. To me there is nothing like looking like a woman. I love Audrey Hepburn, Eva Longoria, Kate Beckinsale, Kerry Washington, Gabrielle Union, Taylor Swift, Jenna Dewan-Tatum etc. and I’m inspired by their style. But, more than specific people my fashion inspiration comes from Pinterest…simply scrolling through women’s clothing and pinning what makes my face turn into the heart-eyed emoji lol.
As I already mentioned I’m definitely classic, so I am not
one for quickly jumping on the bandwagon regarding fashion trends. I take a
while to come around to trends for some I feel like they are in for a season
and so over the next. I will feel that thing out before I am a fan. I like
items that have staying power, they can stand the test of time. I am also very
much aware that every trend is not going to look good on every body type. So, I
will try out trends eventually, try items on and see how they look. And then
decide if I am for it when it comes to my body.
I think I will end this blog telling you my favorite thing
about style and fashion and what I hope you gain from this blog. My favorite
thing about style and fashion is the creativity that comes with an outfit
together. I love when I put things together, that I never thought to put
together before and the result is something beautiful. And I love that you
completely vamp up an outfit by accessorizing. A belt or necklace can take an
outfit from a 7 to a 10!
In closing, I just want to say, Welcome aboard my Christian Fashion/Style Blog! I hope you
gain some helpful tips concerning fashion and style from this blog. I hope that
you develop your own sense of style that is unique to you. When you shop, I
hope you buy items that make your face turn into the heart-eyed emoji. I hope
that you recognize your worth, that Jesus thought you were worth dying for, that
you are incredibly loved by the Creator of the Universe and that you are
fearfully and wonderfully made. And while it is so much fun to be made up and
dress up and be beautiful on the outside, its more important to be beautiful on
the inside. So when you put the two together you are so winning! Remember clothes,
shoes, and accessories are pretty, but you make them beautiful, you wear them
they don’t wear you. Until next time my loves! Stay classy and beautiful! God
bless you all!
I love you bunches,
Mariah
